Things to look for is was it handled ( scrapes , gouges, chips, splits), cabinet damage (water, insects or vermin, dropped, etc). Sun fade is also another killer of cabinet art. For any of the above reasons cabinet decals are your friend.

If this is a modern pinball, use Novus 1 or Wizards Mist-N-Shine and a microfiber cloth, spray the product on the cloth, and then scrub good. All the dirt will come off fine. And don't wax.
